Never mind that students, residents, and fellows writing reviews has it exactly backwards I know mentors say it is a good way to learn a topic and have a pub on your CV, but the best way to learn a subject is to learn the subject. Don’t add to the scipub bloat while you’re at it

NB2: by “review” I mean your typical narrative overview of the literature that is neither systematic nor opinionated. Most trainee-written reviews are like this. Good narrative reviews have a point other than “more research is needed”, but trainees usually don’t write those
