This kind of attack would't happen with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, because they are push systems (I send the money), not pull systems like credit cards (I give you my info and you get the money). More commerces will adopt cryptocurrencies because of this. Also low fees!
-
i'm honestly not sure if this tweet is a parody or not
-
if you're serious: 1) if an attacker has code exec on the page they can just replace tickemaster's address with their own 2) credit cards you can at least chargeback, bitcoin you're SOL 3) "low fees" - bitcoin transaction fees are like $3 at the moment
-
Of course I'm serious. I'll address your points: 1) That's true, it's a legitimate attack, but it's not the same thing tricking you into making one payment to getting access to your full funds. That's why I said "this kind of attack" in my previous reply.
-
Yeah, but unlike when you get scammed out of Bitcoin, with REAL money you can have the transactions reversed. Get out of here.
-
Bitcoin has escrow support, so you can use a third party as a mediator. The difference is that seller and buyer can choose which escrow service to use, and fees should be lower.
-
escrow services predate cryptocurrency also BTC fees jump to like $50 any time anyone gives a shit about bitcoin which luckily for you is probably never happening again
-
You are right about BTC fees, they get to ridiculous levels because they have artificially restricted its on-chain scalability. Bitcoin Cash on the other hand continues Satoshi Nakamoto's vision of Bitcoin as peer-to-peer electronic cash, fees are under a cent.

Not a very good explanation: "The attacker(s) located, modified, and used this script" - that's not a root cause, that a method.

After receiving email about password reset I was still able to login with my password and change it, and new password is still valid. Am I the only one? At least Ticketmaster responded quickly and promised to check this.

When resetting your password, they send via email a new temporary password which contains trailing whitespace characters...
-
They send you a password via email? WTH...
-
I've just reset my password - no email involved. Why don't Ticketmaster offer 2FA?
