Our paper on the stability of cortical population dynamics during consistent behavior is finally out in . We show that neural population dynamics across the sensorimotor cortices remain stable as subjects perform the same task over years

Latest pre-print from us (inc. ), on a simple question. How do your inferences about neural activity, correlations, and coding depend on your choice of using the raw calcium time-series or deconvolving the spike-events from them? A thread...

This is awesome. I love projects that use non-traditional model organisms. Would love to see a more comparative physiology approach to neuroscience.

As an applicant on the job market, this gives me both a greater appreciation for my recommenders and a sense of dread at the chaos involved in the process.

Very interesting study of calcium imaging. "We report multiple discrepancies between analyses performed on the two types of data, which were only partially resolved by spike inference algorithms applied to fluorescence."

Excited to share a new preprint by students Vicky Zhu and Cody Baker Excitatory-inhibitory balance is ubiquitous in cortical circuits. How does this balance shape neural representations, manifolds, and computations?

New on with Camille Rullán Buxó: "Poisson balanced spiking networks." Extends Boerlin, Machens & Denève's BSN framework to include conditionally Poisson spiking, which confers improved stability, accuracy, & biological plausibility.
