Interesting rule change in college football. On a kickoff, the receiver can signal for and make a fair catch inside the 25 and get the ball at the 25 regardless of where he caught it. The kickoff return continues to fade away. Will the NFL follow?

I thought it was just a proposal. Not official yet.

it has to pass the oversight committee but that seems to be just a formality especially since it doesn't involve player safety.

Idea: A Kick-Off with no kick: The "receiving team" are given the ball in their EZ. The "kicking team" start at the opp 40yd line. They can only advance to try & stop the returner once he leaves the EZ; he can run up & down & choose where to leave the EZ or take a knee as normal.

Do you envision the outright abolition of the kickoff? Seems to be headed in that direction slowly...

Let em signal fair catch, but they should get the ball where they catch it, not at the 25. Nobody is going to run the ball back anymore.
