We have to talk about optempo. We have to talk about spouse careers. We have to talk about families. And no just capitalizing the word and bullshit covenants. It is a national security imperative---if you want to keep an all volunteer force. Remember, draft armies are cheap.

I think blended keeps more. So many bros punch at 11 to keep from getting too close to 20. Blended keeps them till 15 or 17 at least.

This is exactly what senior Army leaders should (and are trying to) fix. Flexibility. The tyranny of centralized personnel has to end -- trust military professionals to manage their own careers. And yes, that will enhance readiness: long term readiness > short term "readiness"
