I love living in Florida but hate being governed by bozos, Part 74328

I’ve never been good at explaining my ideology but I think it might be “government shouldn’t shield people from true facts that cause them discomfort.”

This is an extraordinary move by a great journalist. Good luck! (For the record, if I ever announce I’m quitting writing to do something that requires knowing how things actually work, someone hacked my account.)

Also Dr. Fauci is a power-mad money-crazed sociopath who wants everyone to get vaccinated so that…I dunno, I’m really trying to pay less attention.

I’ve mostly stopped paying attention to political news but is the new theory that the guy who got thousands of dudes to mob the Capitol was…no, not the president who told them to…one of the dudes, who was secretly an FBI informant? How exactly did he make that work?

The insurrection anniversary would be a good day to pass a climate bill. If not, tomorrow is Orthodox Christmas, a good day to pass a climate bill. If not, January 8 is National Bubble Bath Day, a good day to pass a climate bill. If not, January 9 is National Apricot Day, a good

I thought of another positive thing: There was something beautiful about the Cate Blanchett character realizing as the world was ending that all she wanted to do with her precious final moments was talk shit about people.

Also every move Jonah Hill made was gold, even the absurdly written speech where the world is ending and he's praying for, like, sick apartments and watches and all the other dope material stuff.

Also I really enjoyed the bit about the Pentagon liaison charging for the free White House snacks.

My New Year’s resolution was be positive, so, positive thoughts about DON’T LOOK UP: - Great cast! - My wife made it through an hour before falling asleep. - Funny moments! - Who knows, maybe a clunky, dopey, over-the-top mess of bad-analogy satire can inspire climate action.

A good response to this from Biden and Schumer would be We agree Joe, the climate stuff is very good and very important, LET’S VOTE THIS SECOND BEFORE YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND

  16. Manchin seems like a dick, and this absurd yearlong dance has been very dickish, but the most conservative member of a caucus refusing to vote for stuff he’s not comfortable with is totally normal. The Ds should do everything in their power to make him comfortable.

  18. Honestly, a senator from WV has a much more plausible rationale for opposing BBB than a “moderate” senator from Maine. There was a fair amount of Manchin ass-kissing but at some level there was a lack of urgency to do whatever would make him comfortable to lock down his vote.

  19. When Florida Plunder & Loot interrupts Heat games to tell me how green they are my first instinct is: Why does a monopoly need to advertise? My second instinct is 🤮. Here they are again buying legislators to screw rooftop solar.

  20. Another option would be going back in time and telling that NC Senate candidate to keep it in his pants. Otherwise, sucking up to Manchin to try to get him to flip-flop again is probably the most plausible strategy.
