Let me be clear: Anyone can be a New Yorker, but not everyone comes to our city with the spirit of being part of our city. I have a problem with that, and I’m unapologetic in asking more of our new arrivals to communities who were once waking up to gun shots and not alarm clocks.

What are you asking of them exactly? Can you tell us more?

Thanks for asking, Mara. Some of it is as simple as saying “hello” to your fellow neighbors. It’s also patronizing local businesses that have been there for years. It’s adopting a local school or shelter and lending a hand. It’s breaking bread with new faces and building bonds.

I don’t disagree with this but
@BPEricAdams can you see how this comes off with a negative, Trumpian tone? What you said originally is mean spirited. Our city is a melting pot and some don’t have homes to go back to. New York IS our home. It’s MY home. Why be inflammatory?2 replies 0 retweets 5 likes -

Please dont be trying to compare Eric Adams to Trump. Just dont do it

Using Trump's phrase was a choice that Eric Adams made. We have better politicians who don't do that. Unfortunately, Adams thinks the path to being mayor is being divisive and hoping he gets the bigger part.
