Dead-on. It's very weird the best systems-check boss is so far into the game when the 'you must be this tall to ride this ride' bosses in DS2/3/BB are correctly placed right at the beginning (The Pursuer, Iudex Gundyr, Gascoigne).
sekiro would be twice as easy if the longed armed giraffe thing was the opening boss and not the giant ogre

Really enjoyed btw all your critical, incisive writing on this series for Forbes even as I've also loved each of these games. Seems to me the medium games most resemble is music; seldom useful information exchange, the point is raw emotional/ludic resonance.

But then there's the question of length, like if Pink Floyd albums were 100 hours long, what's the point exactly. Hence the conundrum.
