    also having to dedicate the majority of your emotional energy every day to just not breaking down or giving up makes it incredibly difficult to write in a way that doesn't just feel like sobbing brain mush

    anyway cleaning was the first job where i could feel the work was literally, if slowly, killing me, my body still hasn't really recovered. it also taught me that everything I had previously thought about poverty was conceptual & less than useless in just trying not to slide under
