It is clear sauna is very healthy. But why on earth would they adjust for cardiovascular markers? Assuming these are uncorrelated with sauna? Oh, epidemiology...

This is the issue. Assume some intervention improves marker A and marker B. A and B are correlated. You cant control for A when you measure the effect of the intervention on B. Even if the intervention lowers A and B you could incorrectly conclude it increases the risk of B.
