Meet Claus Henning Schulke, a 56-year old German triathlete from Berlin who is Eliud Kipchoge’s Bottle Handler.
His celebration after Kipchoge gets the bottle is a thing of beauty. Sport is absolutely powerful. Incredible scenes.

So when I am asked to spell my surname, I always say, Newberry, as in strawberry, only a new one. I must have said this collection of words thousands of times. What do you say in place of spelling out the letters of your surname?

They represented future street intersections. Before Central Park existed, this one sat at the corner of what would’ve been 63rd and 6th. It’s one of the only bolts that still exists, and it’s hiding in plain sight.
So, there’s your nerdy NYC infrastructure trivia for the day🤓

Went on a hike in the park today to find this little iron bolt. It doesn’t look like much, but it’s actually an important piece of NYC history.
Circa 1811, a surveyor named John Randel Jr. formed what would become Manhattan’s grid by hammering these bolts into the ground.

There's a big reality gap right now between people who are actively staying on top of COVID research & those who just trust the current guidelines. There's no judgment here, but I'd like to try to communicate the worldview of the former based on what we know about COVID now:

While I'm on a Jackass kick, this thoughtful, funny, and moving profile of Wee Man is also so damn good it made me want to heave my phone across the room in a fit of jealousy, which is to say it's a pretty standard Caity Weaver story

“I'm in a terrible position,” he says. “I'm Steve-O in my 40s.” The Jackass with a pure soul is (almost) ready to (eventually) stop hurting himself for our entertainment. All has to do first is figure out how to stop being himself.

Louie was the first celeb I interviewed in college. I remember only that he was way too generous with his time, considering, and left me a hilarious voicemail (“Mike! It’s LOUIE!”) as if we were old pals that I immediately played for all my friends

I have a Bob Saget story to share.
I never really met him. But in 2007 Guster was playing at the Boston Opera House. We noticed that Saget was performing a sold out show at the Orpheum down the street, and we thought it’d be funny to invite him to appear on stage with us...
