I don’t know who needs to hear this, but we’re still in a pandemic. It’s ok if you’re not yet comfortable in crowds. It’s ok if you say no to things. It’s ok if you feel anxious. It’s ok if you need to rest. Your feelings are valid. And don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.

Currently, business settings have a lot of worthwhile intelligently created 2D -- charts, instructional videos, etc. Metaverse business settings will have these as well. Also, they'll have 4D representations of the biz that the biz isn't yet able to imagine.

The proposition that *everything* will be spatialized fails to grasp the reason why we've spent the last few (very prolific) centuries abstracting things to 2D: reality & experience are messy. Our ability to successfully manipulate them lies in cutting *down* dimensions.

“Cardio that doesn’t suck”: Saw this ad while driving into the hospital this evening. One of the first times I’ve seen health-related make it’s way onto the LA city streets. Awareness continues to grow about the manifold ways VR can help to support health.

We don't call what we made starting in the '90's the "Information Superhighway", even though a lot of that visioning is here today. What we did do: build it piece-by-piece as pieces were possible & needed. Same for the 'immersive XR internet' aka 'metaverse' aka ...

A line these companies are treading is that whole lot of people - myself included - never have any intention of working full-time in an office ever again. I'd quit and go elsewhere instead. Officeworkers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but shitty office coffee!

The futurist's dilemma: Any believable prediction will be wrong because the future will not be reasonable. It will be weird. (See now.) But any correct prediction will be unbelievable today, because that world doesn't seem reasonable. Either way, a futurist can't win.

The exciting paths forward for XR data viz don't have much to do with the 3D data viz canon. It's 4D , 3D+time And workhorse 2D data viz does just fine in XR, but charts have to fit the form. Forget the small font hash mark text, for example.
