    it's part of a bigger point: your first job in industry will not be directorial... probably. You'll be expected to work in a house style, under the direction of someone you disagree with, or on an existing IP. Or all three. That's a different skill to pure invention.

    This. I've hired specifically because of fanart / work in the style of. There are cliches of course, but fuck it, plenty of those on the hiring side of the equation too.

    Like it actually makes me laugh how many times I've heard uni teachers say fan art is bad for your folio, then know ppl who have never even been to uni get hired to work on their dream production with an entire folio of the exact thing they were told was so awful...

    If you've not played it, and I came to it quite late myself, you really should. It takes enormous skill to write and design an adventure game that has something to say, and a deep understanding and respect for people. It's a modest, meditative, gut punchingly smart thing.

    Lean less on adding the standard signifiers of Worthiness to your work, and more on actually trying to make it, you know, good and stuff. That said I do like to slap a letterbox on a game so like all twitter advice this is massively hypocritical.

    24 hours in and many games downloaded on game pass... a nice way to encourage experimentation with games I wouldn't have likely tried otherwise. Kinda wanna see the Circulars on there.. hit me up (master) chief.
