When pushed with the GDPR, @spotify gives you a huge amount of telemetry data from their app (for me, 850mb of JSON files). Includes your A/B testing history, anything you've ever drag-dropped, connected, so on. This is how software works today.pic.twitter.com/mZBRK80NXJ

Includes the important information about which version of ABBA serviced my request. For me it was 4.01 — but is that before or after Björn announced they are reforming?pic.twitter.com/vV1UCebBst

while this is all still opaque to users (genuine questions about how you make this kind of data collection not opaque), Spotify leagues ahead by realising that legally they have to make this stuff available. cc @sedyst @jorisvanhoboken

Happened the same to me with Spotify. And also with Amazon: I requested all the clickstream data but I've been told to wait up to 90 days

everyone is invoking the 90 days rule. should have been a rule in the gdpr that every time you invoke the 60 extra days you have to record it and report it to the DPA yearly

What exactly is it logging for drag&drop? Only to Spotify or all in the system? What means connecting?

I meant songs you have dragged and dropped, and devices you have connected. But you can get some idea from the folder name. Not beyond the app but it’s hard to tell because no code book.

here you go. the experiments are referenced by ID and no codebook is provided. there is an argument the codebook would be personal data too but unclear if Spotify would allow that (cc @Nadya_Purtova)pic.twitter.com/zeQCKwJIxW

Thanks a lot! Our ministries of consumer protection are quite unaware of this, so it is good to see someevidence of it.
