Large lively demonstration here in Tai Koo 9:30pm (Photo shows 1/2 of it.) Everyone is mostly milling around, though energy is high. There are some shouts and chants, but in Cantonese and not ones I recognize. Plus, of course the protest anthem. #HongKongProtestspic.twitter.com/XZgPA6FBvX

The epitome of #HongKongprotesters: despite this recycling bin being pulled in the middle of the road as a barricade, someone just walked up and placed a plastic bottle in the correct bin. #hongkongprotests

In what has become something of a set piece, protesters built barricades and smashed a few things up in Tai Koo. Police lined up at one end of street with shields; protesters on the other end with umbrellas. Tear gas is fired. Protesters disperse “like water.” #HongKongProtests

Tai Koo, Hong Kong. 10 pm October 3rd. Cops with shields have massed at the far end of the street (behind and to the right of my camera position). Protesters get into formation behind their umbrellas. Most of these people don’t have “gear”–helmets and gas masks. #HongKongProtestspic.twitter.com/P7SVWysTXj

One thing I will at least say for the cops this time: the canisters landed well short of the people protesting and then rolled on the ground into them. More often than not, the police fire them directly at protesters at close range. #HongKongProtests

2:30 and anti mask-law #HongKongProtests at Pedder and De Voeux is thinning slowly, but is still quite large, energetic and still blocking the intersection.
