"The plain fact is that the planet does not need more 'successful' people." It desperately needs more "people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable & humane, & these qualities have little to do with success as we have defined it.” – David W. Orr

If someone wants you to be angry about climate activists & trade unionists & immigrants but not angry about a tax dodging planet devouring corporation making a record £32,000,000,000 annual profit, then they are not on your side.

When it becomes clear collapse is coming, the media will say they did cover climate change enough. But what they did was fan doubt, create clickbait debates about protesters, and rage about even the smallest changes like vegan sausage rolls. The media are to blame.

Very few people around the world could claim to have done more to tackle climate change than Professor Will Steffen. He was a first class scientist and a world class communicator. Around the world and in Australia, many are mourning the loss of a valued and loved colleague. Vale

This is very sad news. Will was so generous in sharing his knowledge on climate change and a rock of intellectual integrity in the dark days of climate denialism in Australia. Journalists who covered the climate crisis in those years will never forget his courage

I have no words to express my deep sadness for the loss of Will Steffen who passed away last night. He had been one of the most influential individuals in global change science programs, director of GCTE, IGBP, and driver of ESSP that led to the creation of the @gcarbonproject

As a result of climate change, ~65% of the cultivatable land in the African Sahel has degraded, causing mass migration and food insecurity. African nations combined have emitted less than 3% of the total global greenhouse gas emissions. #ClimateJustice

Africa shouldn't be a dumping ground for any trash of any form. The African continent is already paying a huge price for climate change yet many countries are dumping their waste on the vulnerable continent.
