Team apps (chat, project management, customer support) are trickier because the decision is often made by committee. Much harder to please.

also, many of them are painful to use/look at. & the team has varying uses for tools, so sometimes there really isn't one solution

It's even harder to sell SaaS to teams in flat organizations. Everyone has a say. No clear decision maker.

My guess is that Salesforce succeeded because sales teams are very hierarchical. There's a clear team team leader who makes decisions.
