Father of 4 here.
As an employee, I struggled to make ends meet for years.
I quit my job in 2014, and started my own company.
Since then, I’ve consistently made more money as a founder than an employee.
A big part of my entrepreneurial motivation *is* money.https://twitter.com/apompliano/status/1401544790869786628 …

Don't do it for the money. Do it for the boat you can buy with that money.

These things don’t sound like money. They sound like comfort and freedom. I feel like there is a big gap between “I freedom and margin for me and my family” and “I want a billion dollars”. Ultimately I agree with what you are saying, for the most part :)

But in our society, to get those things, you need money! It’s ok to say: “I’m motivated by money that will (in turn) get me the other things I want.” Otherwise, we should just go work for non-profits, right? (I worked for a non-profit for 8 years; didn’t earn enough.
