Thankful for where I am, but still occasionally jealous of all the folks in their 20s and 30s building indie SaaS companies so young.

I’ll always have a soft spot for young parents who are trying to start a business. Starting a business when you have kids (especially infants!), and very little capital, is a whole other level. It’s the “hardest hard mode;” especially for bootstrappers.

No matter your stage of life, the best advice is still: “do what you can, with what you have,” and “start now, start small.” I didn’t really start building indie projects until I was 33 (and had 4 kids aged 3-11). At the time I felt like I was behind; but I’m glad I started.

The irony is: the stage of life where you could really use the flexibility + financial margin of an established indie SaaS is when you’re 25 with a newborn.
(But that’s the hardest time to do anything extra, much less start a business!)4 odpowiedzi 0 podanych dalej 21 polubionychPokaż ten wątek -
For me, my indie SaaS (
@TransistorFM) has given me the most financial margin, the most free time, and the least amount of stress. Again, I’m thankful, but I could have really used this about 11 years ago when I had 2 kids in diapers.

Shout out to all the 22 year olds with newborns and no money. I’ve been there!
