Yesterday, @mijustin took a stab at renaming the confusing new options in Apple Podcasts Connect, but I'm not sure he hit the mark. I think it’s more helpful to think of it as four options in a 2×2 grid.

Honestly, who would use that option?
Even if you had an "Apple-centric" show, many Apple listeners use @overcastfm, @pocketcasts, @breaker, etc...
(Plus: Apple Podcasts excludes all Android listeners)

In the same way that
@exponentfm isn’t available on@spotifypodcasts because “Publisher Ben” recognizes the value of foregoing wide reach, there’s a strategically sound reason to pick that option. (If you’re solely monetizing through Apple Subscriptions.) https://stratechery.com/2020/the-rationale-behind-the-daily-update-podcast-podcasts-and-email-spotify-and-the-three-bens/ …pic.twitter.com/7x9cYGlY9V

No, I mean, why would you want a free show solely on Apple Podcasts?

“Free shows hosted only on Apple Podcasts” seems incredibly niche.
The majority of free podcasts will continue to be syndicated via RSS: publish it in one place, and it automatically distributes everywhere.
