Lots of folks excited (and investing in!) Gumroad's big crowd equity campaign today. Crowdfunding seems like an awesome opportunity for founders (especially those who have built up social capital). But I'm still unclear how "good" these campaigns are for investors?https://twitter.com/mijustin/status/1356731802698674176 …
What would be the "trigger event" in Gumroad's case? ref: https://medium.com/clays-thoughts/understanding-the-crowd-safe-2e20c1d2d2fe …pic.twitter.com/PkZUkjnGbp

"Trigger event" for Gumroad are only liquidity events like an acquisition, IPO or change of ownership. So a new private financing round at a higher valuation would not count, but it would dilute you anyway.

I think this crowdfunding campaign is less about "being an investor" and more about being close to the founder/company and giving props to
@shl for building Gumroad to what it is today. - Pokaż odpowiedzi

Do they get shares?
How do they get a liquidity event?
