I think, as bootstrappers, we need to abandon the "long slow SaaS ramp of death" trope.
1. That talk is nearly 20 years old (lots has changed)
2. I'm not sure it ever really applied to most successful bootstrapped businesses?
3. For many SaaS I know, the ramp was pretty fast.

She was talking about growth at early-mid scale being hard, not the very start. Bootstrapped absolutely experience that — many companies flatten growth around $5M-$20M ARR. Of course, you don’t have to care! But that effect is certainly still true today.

Interesting, because I often see “long, slow, SaaS ramp of death” invoked when folks have just started their biz.

I mean I hear you that people misuse it. The answer is “when you’re at $15M-$25M ARR then you can complain.” Otherwise you’re just not growing fast. Which might not be your goal, but if it is, you can’t invoke Gail yet. :-D

Exactly.
I’m talking to the big cross-section of founders who are looking to get to $100k - $1 million in ARR.
