The bubble of your personal tastes, feedback from your twitter friends, and ProductHunt upvotes is not going to find you a good business idea. Get out of the bubble.

Where are some better places to look?

One of my fave places to start looking are job search engines like Indeed, focussing on responsibilities for "jobs to be done"https://twitter.com/tomzaragoza/status/1342499439060127750 …

Never discount your gut. Develop it. In the end that’s your only guiding light. You have to make decisions. It’s a lonely role, but you better have an intuitive feel for what you’re making, or you’re going to be wandering around forever asking for directions.

I like the framing of “develop your gut”... what’s an example of how to develop (rather than blindly trust?) your gut instincts? Eg I’d say get outside of your bubble, assert your ideas, see where you get pushback, integrate it. but maybe that’s not what you mean?

...and remember… When you ask people, all you’re getting back is *their* gut. It’s guts all the way down until you build the damn thing and put it on the market. So build confidence in your own opinions, taste, and point of view. Make what you want to see in the world.

I guess this is why it's so important to validate your product as early as possible.

In my experience genuinely *good* ideas come ONLY from working. You want to make a product. Products solve problems. So you need to see what problems are there. You can't manifest problems onto the world by opening a brainstorming app. Any meaningful work brings good ideas.

I fully agree... All my products came from problems I needed to solve when working

agree with the sentiment.
(Although, good business ideas can come from working in an industry, or serving a category of clients)
