I constantly have these thoughts and then immediately think "Then do something, Josh" but then realize I'm just exhausted and our kids don't have *that* many more years of school (6th, 9th, 11th). They'd all be out of school before any real change could happen.https://twitter.com/Shpigford/status/1336468186938617858 …

Right. Until you've got kids firmly in the traditional education system, you don't realize how terrible it actually is. And let's be honest, any parent with multiple elementary/high school age kids have essentially zero energy to do much of anything. Kids are exhausting.

Sadly. I can see why many parent opt for homeschooling (but we’ve never quite been up for that). I’ve have one of our kids in private school now. I wish that we could just use the public system... but the private system (so far) has been significantly better.

Two thoughts: 1. I think people can inoculate their children from the pressure of school by teaching them that it's not the be-all and end-all. Yes, if you're good at it, by all means, have at it. But if you're not good at it, it really doesn't matter *unless you want it to*.

"Unless you want it to" means there are some goals in life that require a specific education and sometimes getting that education can require being good at school. But that's a choice. You can, on the other hand, be quite successful (and happy) without a traditional education.

I feel this exact same thing bug my kids are K and just born. What could I do to change it besides homeschool?
