The contemporary idea in online business is that you need to build an audience, get to know their needs, and then build something they want.
It's focused a lot on *who* you serve. (Who are these people? Do they have money? Where do they hang out?)
But is this the best way?

If you look at some of the most successful businesses, they started with the founder(s) solving their own problem(s). They scratched their own itch & found a huge gap in the market. When you are your own customer, you aren't aiming in the dark, and love your product to death.

Too many counter examples for that to be the *main* thing that made their companies successful. It’s the market! The market determines your trajectory.

Of course, it's not the *main* thing that made their companies successful. But organic business ideas that come from your own experience can lead to the discovery of big, paying markets that you wouldn't have found otherwise.

Totally agree with that.
