Yea, there's a real lack of strong visual tooling in software development. Basic things like ERD diagrams are incredibly painful to build still (mostly bad diagramming software) but incredibly effective at community concepts and process.
So much! I learned how to normalize database tables while playing around with Access.
Don't even get me started on Hypercard.
I know one of the original Access team members really well. I will let him know of yours and others on this thread's admiration.
I learned data modeling on Access. Tools like Access and Paradox with integrated forms were very empowering, low code tools. Many small businesses ran their companies on Access.
