I mean let's talk turkey here. If this was your main app. Is there any way at all you overlook the fact that the *iOS* version of your app is breaking one of the cardinal rules of the app store? Really???

It sounds like Apple has already approved the app. https://twitter.com/pierce/status/1273009825031413762?s=21 … https://twitter.com/pierce/status/1273009825031413762 …

I don't see that in there. It previously approved the app in error, now it's saying it's going to pull it.

That’s what I meant. They’d already been talking to Apple this whole time. Apple was telling them this whole time it was approved, now on launch, they’re reversing.

Well that's not accurate. It was already launched, they went to update it and the second review found the error. But here's the thing man this isn't some edge case rule. This is literally the most talked about rule in the app store. That they missed this is truly terrible.

Except that using this approach seems to be common, and some folks make it in (Slack) and others do not: https://twitter.com/mauerbac/status/1216871084567474176?s=21 …https://twitter.com/mauerbac/status/1216871084567474176 …

Matt Auerbach @mauerbacApp has no links back to our website and no concept of "unlocking features". No account management, no login, etc.. Just reads in data from our backend after a user puts in a 4 char code. Same concept as iOS for Slack, Mixpanel, Intercom etc -- they offer subs on web but no IAP.Pokaż ten wątek3 odpowiedzi 0 podanych dalej 1 polubiony -

They’re also handling it terribly (as expected). They’ve done a ton of marketing. What % of ppl are really going to buy via iOS? 5%? Less? Just being babies. DHH rather pull the app!! Than pay a few % so their custs can use iOS. Lunacy.

So weird that you’re defending a company with a $1 trillion market cap Ian.
We wouldn’t allow Chrome to take 30% of our SaaS revenue to be “on their platform.”
This isn’t like building a Shopify add-on. This is an independent app, that needs to be installed on a popular OS.2 odpowiedzi 0 podanych dalej 3 polubione -
