Lots of folks in podcasting are worried about exclusive audio content (Rogan) on platforms like Spotify, Stitcher, and Luminary. Question: can you see yourself switching the way you consume podcasts to get exclusive content like this?

Just published a bunch of my thoughts on this here:https://transistor.fm/joe-rogan-spotify …

Do you think you’ll use video on Spotify?

There's a pretty big strat difference between Spotify and Luminary. Spotify not asking you to pay, so it's a very small burden for listeners. Lum trying to create subscription revenue (and is DOA imho).

Also if you don't subscribe to Stratechery you should, he talks about podcasting a lot.

It's a great time for video content creators __because__ Netflix et. al. are providing demand. Joe rogan/Howard Stern have proved the market. $ -> podcasting will increase.

The big difference between tv/movies and music is most people make playlists of music. Mixing is part of the experience. No one watches tv that way. I think podcasts are in between. I could tolerate switching apps, but I'd much prefer a queue of everything at once.
-
I agree with the value of mixing for the "average" podcast content. But for premium content, it's whatever. This is the same for premium video too. It's nice to "discover" and "queue" things, but I'm not able to get to watch The Wire on Netflix.
