The “provide value” mantra seems to assume that the we need to (almost forcefully) initiate the transaction: “Here’s some value!” “Please take my value!” “Here’s the value I’ve decided to give you!”
Bingo.
That’s what I was driving at. The “provide more value” mantra seems to often preempt that and turns into: “I’ll give people what I think they need.”

Ah, I like this phrasing better than how you first said it (initiating transaction). Assuming and guessing what value is to others def happens all the time.
