When an author says: “I have an idea for my next book” the success of that book largely depends on the concept they’ve chosen. The same is true in business.

my thoughts initially were around authors as that was one of the metaphors you used, how if somehow JK Rowling wrote an average/poor book it would damage her reputation but still outsell 99% of the very good books from new authors

struggling to think of obvious examples in tech though, which might be because reputation matters *less* here, but prebuilt goodwill and audience size seem the biggest factor to me *sticks finger in the air*

The future potential is all contained in the idea. It's either a 1X idea, a 10X idea, a 100x idea, etc...
Execution, I think, isn't the biggest multiplier. Maybe it gives you 1.5X. In most cases (especially with today's tech stacks) I think 1X
