If you don’t believe me, go browse old listings on Product Hunt. You’ll see page after page of beautifully executed products that never achieved meaningful traction. There have been thousands of ideas posted; most failed. Are ideas really “easy?”

Ideas are important, they're part of the equation. It's like
@sivers says, ideas are a multiplier of execution. I'm not saying the idea doesn't matter, but I think a poor idea from someone with a big reputation will do better than a good one with no reputation. -
Basecamp was a great idea with world class execution with no reputation boost. This is an anomaly. Their subsequent launches were decent ideas with a large reputation boost. Both Highrise and Know Your Company became businesses in their own right.
