I know it’s popular to say “Ideas are easy. Execution is everything,” but I disagree. If ideas are so easy, why are most business ideas so bad? The opportunity you identify, and focus on, matters a lot.

We underestimate the power of a good idea. Most of the future potential for success is contained within the idea itself. Of course you need to *do the work* to move forward. But the idea determines your direction and momentum.

We don’t always recognize how long our brains have been working on a problem when we “suddenly” arrive at a solution. Nor do we comprehend the complicated relationship between our long chaotic experiences and our personal perspective on a problem.

Yes implementation takes more overt, physical effort, but we compare the 5 years it took to build the idea into the successful company with the single moment when we arrived at the concrete idea. But it is possible that the idea only arrived because of the 30 years leading up.
