A few times a year, someone will send me a message like this:
"Stick to talking about bootstrapping and business. Don't talk about [philosophy, mental health, economics, politics, ecology]."

I can relate. I know you from your BYS podcast in 2018. I have a Saas. I listened and found out about you because that’s what I wanted to hear about. I used to listen to every episode. Lately not so much. The content feels unfocused. Which audience do you want? That’s the ?

If you only want the “how to build a SaaS” content, that only happens once (for us, Feb 2018 - July 2019). It’s built. Now, it’s about us sharing our current journey. That includes the whole person. For the podcast, we know that will mean less listeners. We’re ok with that.

Yeah, I get that. But you have great insights on business strategy and I love hearing details John provides on features he is building like Tailwind CSS. The YouTube/Google security review thing was interesting to me. That’s the stuff I enjoy hearing you guys talk about.

Yup. We’re still talking about that stuff.
The truth is, any podcast with a weekly format where founders are giving updates on their journey (@buildyoursaas, @artofproductpod, @gettingtoramen, Bootstrapped Web, @SlowSteadyPod) are going to have weeks that meander.
