The sometimes awkward thing about the indie/bootstrapper space is how much attention marketing tactics get vs product.

Which would make you think that everyone is spending the majority of their time on marketing and not much of it on product, but often the reverse.

I there’s been an over-correction to get devs to focus on talking to customers and marketing and avoid building in a cave. But more experienced founders are past that lesson and don’t fall into that anymore. So we should talk product more.

Given what Ruben said above I’d say there’s still a tendency to spend more cave time than customer time overall

cave time is necessary, but talking to customers is part of that process (building the right thing). If you've been at this a few years, you don't need to keep learning that. We can talk more about product design, considering that's the business we're in!

Definitely necessary sometimes to ignore everything and just get stuff done. Hard to separate product, talking to customers, marketing/sales, etc. Building the wrong product (or building things in the wrong order) is a big big problem.
