I call BS on this one. While it might help you find P/M fit, once you need to grow past that you need to generate that demands. Even more when your product is coming from a technological shift. You need to educate the market. For example Kubernetes, serverless

Kubernetes and serverless both solve problems people were already searching for. They’re responses to scaling problems people were actively trying to solve. (There is tons of tech that gets created, but doesn’t solve a problem folks have, and dies because of lack of demand)

Agree about K8s and serverless. It's extremely hard to come up with examples of products for markets that didn't exist in some way. The closest ones I can think of are modern running shoes (Nike) and snowboards (Burton).

Skateboards were created because surfers were actively looking for something to do when they weren’t surfing. Snowboarding was created by surfers and skateboarders who were searching for that same “feeling” but on snow.
