Very difficult, if you’re an employee. Also difficult if you have investors.

I'm always wondering how all the small non-internet-non-software businesses work at all. From food to retail, it's all low margin and have no idea how people do this for their whole life.
it's simpler to start. Buy cheap, then sell for a little profit. Not a lot of knowledge needed if you compare it to building something as complex as a SaaS where you often need a vast array of disciplines from software dev to dig marketing and everything in between.
