Discoverability & amplification are the same challenges being faced by apps over the past decade. Quick consumption is certainly unique to podcasts where technology can help, although the content will still have major influence on it.

Not really. Apps had a single marketplace (the App Store); a single place to search for, and discover, new apps.

I see what you mean, but Podcasts too have got monopolized by a few (Apple, Google, Spotify) due to the fact that people are already there, making podcasters living under the mercy of their search service. Which then turns them towards public internet to reach their audience.
