I see. I guess I get a little worried that this message could be interpreted as “don’t follow your own ideas/instincts”. I think a lot of successful businesses start from “hey I have an idea”, borne out of being so in-touch with a market that inspiration strikes.

Yes, there has to be validation that a market actually cares about the problem you have an idea about solving. Maybe that inefficiency you identified is no big deal — or maybe it is compelling enough to enter the space and start gathering customers.
