No, you're right, I missed a crucial step in there: 5. TELL PEOPLE ABOUT IT Marketing is showing people how their lives could be better with what you've built. (But that has to reflect the reality you've observed in their lives)

It’s also easy to conflate marketing with distribution. A product can be superb and have excellent marketing but without distribution—getting the product _into_ the value chain where it can deliver value, it’s a non-event. WoM = awareness =/= adoption.
