I’m still not convinced. Netflix is not profitable but Apple wouldn’t like you to justify your next AppleTV/iPhone/iPad purchase and if a locked-in exclusive content channel helps that then they play the game.

But Apple is already putting iTunes on Samsung devices. They're shifting priorities. Less = vendor lock- in. More = streaming / media options on every device. Also random thought: Netflix (and other streaming services) don’t want to “win”. They want people to use their services *just* enough to keep paying their monthly subscription and recommending it to others but not too much because bandwidth costs money.

This is in contrast to other media services where delivery costs trend to zero cost but eyeballs must be maximised for ad revenue (i.e. no downside to winning because costs don’t scale but revenue does).
