I get this question quite a bit:
"Can you tell me if my idea is good before I spend too much time building it?"

The biggest thing I struggled with at FotoJournal was simply a lack of interest in the market we ended up servicing (wedding photography). I loved our customers and helping them out, but had zero desire to immerse myself in that world — which makes it hard to grow a business!

The value of "liking them" can be underestimated. It must be hard to have passion for making something awesome for a group of customers that you're not part of / somehow connected to / like at a minimum.

The two most important questions in product dev are:
1. Who is it for?
2. What is it for? (What superpower does it give them?)
They'll give you clues as to whether your idea is worth pursuing.
Once you've answered those questions, ask yourself:
1. Do you like the intended audience? Do you have a built-in advantage there? Do you know how to reach them? Do they pay for things?
2. Does your tool give them so much value that they'll use it and pay for it?
