    with Scala's Futures, this call to `map(f)` requires a ExecutionContext: ``` Future.successful(v).map(f) ``` Does it mean that the execution of `f` will be send to the EC to be scheduled while, obviously, because of the `Future.successful`, we know it doesn't have to be ?

    In my opinion, having corporations run news media outlets is fundamentally wrong. Journalism should be payed by the public money as it benefits society. Journalists should have to be licensed to practice by a group of their peers, like lawyers are.

    8/ I would consider resubscribing only after you change this behavior , until then I'll recommend to anyone I know not to try subscribing to your service

    7/ All this has taught me a couple of lessons: - always perform online transactions using - always cancel early - never trust anything the corporation behind is doing. I am sure the journalists have nothing to do with these shady behavior, but this is BAD!

    6/ So instead of cancelling, I ended up with one extra month to pay because I've been invoiced 3 days in advance of the subscription start date. I don't even want to know what hoops I'll have to jump through if I decide not to pay.

    4/ At first I was put through with their first line of customer representatives. Only to be passed to the second line of account specialists. It only took 10 minutes. 9 minutes and 59 seconds more than I wanted to waste on this.

    3/ Three days later I receive an email with them saying they have invoiced and that I need to pay. Alright, I guess I have to go through their weird little process, little did I know that it would take 40 minutes of my life to cancel a subscription.

    2/ Initially I tried to see if I can cancel from their app, but it said I had to get in contact with a person from their sales department, and I didn't want the hassle so I just cancelled from which I thought would notify them that I cancelled, afaik they didn't.

    1/ I liked listening to the Daily podcast and I thought that they deserve a subscription from me as I've seen their editorials show up time and again on HN, but after finding out that I am not really using their app I decided to cancel my sub, and so it begins.

    Today I was working with David Spivak and Brendan Fong on our new course, Programming with Categories. It will take place in January at MIT as part of IAP. We'll introduce categorical concepts and teach elements of Haskell to illustrate them. Yes, all 18 lectures will be recorded
