I don't think just rust - but I think (hope?) the era unsafe-by-default languages is approaching its end.
-
I am hoping so too. I think game developers will probably keep their C++ - but it is bordering in criminal to keep writing system code, system services, or libraries in C/C++.

Is rustc available on the platforms I care about? Are the build times still as slow or slower than C++? ("You had one job") Does it play well with others or still require everything go through Cargo? (huge pain point in real systems) Is the library situation still chaos?

I dont know the status of rust on Wii, the rest should be fine. Our friends at Embark probably know more about this

Only if you don't care about binary size.

Dunno bae - nothing seems to stop the rate of growth. I rather go with safe growth than unsafe growth.

How about performance? Can you write stuff that can easily run on machines like Summit?
-
