(It's doubtful Bernie becomes the nominee in that instance because Bernie simply doesn't have the support within the party, but Biden and Bernie like each other and Bernie would probably have significant input re: the nominee, which is as good as it probably gets.)

The point of "suspending" a campaign rather than ending it - which is what most of them did - is precisely for instances such as this one, but at this point the party is probably better served by simply getting together in a smoke-filled room and picking someone everybody likes.https://twitter.com/NickPiers/status/1254069205512617985 …

All of this said: Biden likes Bernie, remember, always has. And that might be enough for him to say "okay, give Bernie the shot." (Of course, if he's bowing out "for health reasons" the argument for Bernie gets weaker, but w.e.)

This is quite true, which is why I started out saying "I hope he bows out" - or, if you prefer, "I hope he realizes he has to."https://twitter.com/warcabbitMWM/status/1254071125337952258 …

But where is the incentive for any actor in this play to do that? Biden is leading nationally and is ahead or tied in every swing states. Obviously so did Clinton, but Dems clearly haven’t learned the right lessons from that so where’s the motivation to change coming from?

Would be nice if he did, but I don't see it happening, sadly.

He's not going to. He decisively won the primary and everything, from polling to fundamentals point to him winning the Presidency.

But seriously what do they do when the Tara Reade thing starts getting play? Do they just count on the press ignoring it?
