Why can't YouTube have whatever rules they want? They're a private company... can't see "censorship" on that

My understanding is that they shouldn’t enjoy the legal benefits of being a neutral platform while enjoying the freedom to be a publisher with editorial control. Pick one, operate as one.

If the NYT accepted a guest column from me in which I slander someone, they would be liable right? The online platforms are starting to do much the same thing as far as their decision making power.

Agreed! I suggest YT, FB, and the rest need to begin hiring an army of human content controllers who decide what gets uploaded.
