Is mental health becoming more of an epidemic or are we just becoming more aware of it?
my dad, a vietnam vet, woke up screaming for years and never saw a shrink. we all, and i think men especially, were previously expected not to take this stuff seriously.

Interesting how often you hear about soldiers with PTSD now when we have a tiny fraction of the number of people who have served in the military

PTSD is a new term, but what it describes is not. In the aftermath of WW2 it was simply known as shell shock. Looking back on her childhood, my mother realized that my grandfather, who fought Rommel in North Africa, had a classic case. At the time, it was barely discussed.
