The dollar derives value less through fiat than bitcoin. The dollar is ultimately backed by the strength of the US economy, its ability to produce and a relatively stable governments ability to tax that economy.

assumed "strength," ability, and stability are all abstract concepts concerning your lamented "belief." the only thing material about the dollar is the paper it's printed on, which is practically worthless.
