might be a stupid question, but the problem seems to be congress is trying to spend a couple trillion dollars we don't have on top of the two or three trillion we also probably don't have but are nonetheless spending. what if we simply didn't spend that extra couple tril?

Is climate/decarbonization and universal pre-K not a worthwhile future investment?

This is just steel manning the bill by saying “look the most important things in the bill are actually worth spending money on” while ignoring the vast portions of the bills that are complete fluff and not important investments like climate and pre-k

The US has a tremendous amount of wealth yet only a small % of households are financially secure. This is solved via an increase in redistribution. The only reason to reduce tax rates is to incentivize innovation, but last I checked there has been little innovation as of late.

“There has been little innovation as of late” rockets are landing vertically and are re-usable, we built a vaccine in 2 days, put a pig organ in a human, and tech disruption (measured by vc exits) is accelerating

"don't have" is a restrictive frame that presupposes a lot of things that may not be true.

We do have the money. Just got to tax corporations and billionaires more. We spend plenty on the military. Its more important for families to get universal pre-k than Verizon earning a couple more millions of dollars.

Lol, you could tax billionaires at 80% and be nowhere close to making a dent in the deficit
