When exactly did we stop calling people yuppies, and why? I feel like I *should* have read the canonical big think piece on this, but haven’t?

Yeah and I think the larger thing is the whole 90s thing about "selling out" and commercial / material success being uncool just completely evaporated, so now it has to be a more complicated thing about "power" or something

Like, my guess is the yuppie today is the "tech bro"/ "finance bro" and the perjorative is meant to be way more about their politics / social standing than it is about wealth signifiers & lifestyle stuff
