feels like the entire movement to reduce large-scale animal suffering just kind of got completely replaced by "don't you want to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 0.00000001%?" feels kinda weird to always see it mentioned over the whole, like "not raising/killing animals" thing

It's reframing the issue to a problem that will affect you personally rather than some far-off animal. People get concerned when you say that they will suffer, rather than another being suffering.
